“Round 3, What a day! Sun, bees, ducks, and sadly a red flag to end, but memorable for the fantastic racing. Qualifying, the grid separated by six-tenths, few instances of poor driving during the race and three teams on the same lap at the end of the four hours.
And now, a grumble!
I’m sure you are all aware of the item in our regs about brake disc protectors. (It’s page 26 item 5.2 if you are not familiar).
It seems that some teams who should have them either do not have them, or have metallic ones fitted. How do we know this? Its been reported by Rye House about damage to kerbs, which is either coming from being hit by brake discs, or metallic brake disc protectors. Rye House do not have this (clearance) problem with their corporate karts, so it is definitely coming from owner/driver karts.
So please, for the next round, check your kart. If the disc protrudes below the chassis rails, make sure you have a disc protector, and that it is non-metallic.
