Tyres – Important Announcement for Round 3

Last round we announced that a new tyre that would be available for Round 3.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the tyre will not be ready for this month. I’ve spent the majority of the week in talks about a plan B for this up and coming round, next weekend.
After considering all options I can confirm we will be switching to the Heidenau HLD Slick tyre for Round 3.

• The tyre has been used extensively at Clay in the EPS series
• It is a Hard slick compound, comparable to the Bridgestone YDS
• It is available from either Monkey Motorsport or KKC next day, stock levels are very high to more than accommodate RHPK
• Gearing will remain the same, no change necessary
• Cost effective option, Tyre sets are around ~ £120

I have explored every option in detail, the outcome moving to the Heidenau tyres remains by far the fairest and most available option for all teams for our up and coming 5 hour race. We have next to no new Yokos in stock, various states of used tyres from teams, The Dunlop’s will be in limited availability given the 24 hour race this month.

The tyre will ensure a level playing field for all teams up and down the grid.

How to purchase
You have two options, Monkey Motorsport will by buying a large batch, so you can save yourself some money by getting it slightly cheaper from them or go to KKC directly.

This has been quite a stressful and considered decision but I firmly believe it’s our best choice for the whole grid. Thank you to everyone I have spoken to this week.
