It was announced in the Presentation last week, June round will be sponsored by Burton Power and will feature a brand new format! A first for RHPK.
Burton Power has been involved in RHPK since Andy Burton started racing in the series back in 2014 and co-sponsored the two TV rounds we had back in 2016 and 2017 plus a live-streamed round in 2018. Andy originally raced with Team Eyrie for 2 seasons before setting up Burton Power Racing, now in their 8th season.
Outside of karting, Andy developed the Ford Ka EnduroKa race series in partnership with MSV and runs his team as an owner/driver/manager/spanner monkey, etc. A number of RHPK drivers have driven in EnduroKa, it’s a popular route to circuit car racing.
He’s also a regular track day driver and Burton Power are putting on 6 track days this year. If you haven’t had the opportunity to go out on track, Andy is always willing to offer passenger rides at their track days if you ask him nicely!
When asking Andy what format he would like. “6 hours, no qualifying” was the response! “I’d rather have a longer race without qualifying than have a shorter race with qualifying” So how will we decide on the grid?
Andy has come up with a question – his favorite track is the Nurburgring, which he’s visited a few times. What is his quickest lap time around this circuit (bridge to gantry)? The grid will be set and ordered by the closest guesses!
So where do you start? Top Gear has famously set the 10-minute lap target in a Diesel Jag and Transit. Depends on what car he’s driven, has the track been dry? Time to start guessing!
You can submit your guess when signing in for Round 4. The qualifying order will be announced at Drivers Briefing!
